Cyber Essentials Certification

What is cyber essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a government-backed certification that ensures companies are practising good cyber hygiene. It's required for government tenders and is an indicator of a commitment to security and data protection.

Getting Cyber Essentials certified protects your customers against 99% of threats and demonstrates their security credentials to regulators and prospects.

In 2014, the British government recognized the enormous risk posed by cyberattacks to organizations working with their departments as suppliers and partners.

They also recognized that the majority of these risks could be avoided by following a set of basic security measures.

In response, they launched the Cyber Essentials scheme. This scheme ensures a standard level of cybersecurity across all of their suppliers.

That means even small businesses without IT teams dedicated to cybersecurity could be protected. The relevance of this certification is only growing. In the last few years SME (small and medium enterprises) have been the increasing target of crippling cyberattacks - many of which could have been prevented through Cyber Essentials compliance.

Two certification standards

Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a simple but effective, Government backed scheme that will help you to protect your organisation, whatever its size, against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks.

Cyber Essentials Plus

Cyber Essentials Plus still has the Cyber Essentials trademark simplicity of approach, and the protections you need to put in place are the same, but for Cyber Essentials Plus a hands-on technical verification is carried out.

IASME offers a certification route to demonstrate that you have taken into account the requirements of the General Data protection regulation (GDPR). This certification is available as a verified self-assessment or as an on-site audit.

If you pass this assessment you will receive a certificate and be entitled to use the logo to show you have passed the IASME Governance assessment which includes GDPR requirements as well as Cyber Essentials.

You will be able to demonstrate to your customers that you take the protection of their personal and valuable data seriously.
